This September BRLT has nominated four new faces to our Board of Directors– Cindy Bailey, Kimberley Byrd, Alan Bellows and Bruce Harris.

Cindy Bailey is the Assistant Controller at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences where she has worked since 2019. Previous to that she had spent over a decade in public accounting as a nonprofit auditor. She holds a Masters and BS in Accounting from Thomas College and became a Certified Public Accountant in 2013. Cindy has a passion for all things numbers and has volunteered with several youth sports organizations in board treasurer capacities whenever needed. She lives in Wiscasset with her husband Phil, daughter Izzy, son Ryder, a couple of dogs, a cat and several chickens. Cindy’s oldest son, Trent, has since flown the coop and is currently attending UNH as he pursues a degree in Computer Engineering.

Alan Bellows is lifelong hiker and backpacker. He has a long history of supporting trails that began in college with week-long Appalachian Trail (AT) volunteer work trips with the Bates Outing Club, and two summers as a Youth Conservation Corps crew leader at Mt. Blue and Baxter state parks. After retiring from a career in applications development and IT management, Alan resumed his trail volunteerism with the Maine Appalachian Trial Club where he’s held a number of volunteer roles and currently serves as Vice President. He’s lived for over 35 years in Boothbay with wife Wendy on their hobby farm (horses and chickens) where he’s been chair of the town planning and appeals boards, board member and president of the Boothbay Harbor Opera House, and is a long-time volunteer and stewardship committee member for Boothbay Region Land Trust.

Kim Byrd is a retired insurance executive with over 35 years in the professional liability industry. She graduated from Bates College with a BA in Economics and then earned her MBA from The University of Connecticut. She was a co-founder and COO of Tennant Risk Services. Kim has been actively involved in civic affairs in Hartford, Connecticut where she lives half the year. In the Boothbay area she serves on the board of the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund and is involved at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club. In her free time Kim likes to run, hike, boat and enjoy the outdoors.

 

Bruce Harris is an attorney with Griffin & Harris in Boothbay Harbor. He helps clients with estate planning including wills and trusts, estate administration, and real estate matters including, purchase and sales, cottage ownership and succession planning. Bruce is the president of the Boothbay Region YMCA board and the Education Boothbay board, as well as a member of the Harbor Theater board, and a proud Rotarian. He and his wife, Medea, live on Southport where they are blessed to raise their children, Lilley, Graham, Emerson, Sarah, Ford, and Aggie.
