Read a family-friendly book while walking through the woods. Follow the illustrated signs along the trail as they tell a tale that connects you to your natural surroundings. The free 1-mile story trail starts from the Oak Point Farm parking lot kiosk and can be completed at your own pace and on your own time. The current story trail features the read-aloud book “Our Warming Waters,” written and illustrated by Boothbay Region Land Trust’s 2026 Summer Intern Samantha Huss.
This work of climate fiction tells the story of a shark struggling with the effects of global climate change. It focuses on the realities of sharing a vulnerable planet, of living th through a global emergency, and of working with the natural world around us to counter the environmental crisis before it is too late. It begins in ignorant bliss, turns to troubling reality, and ends with a purposeful call to action, intentionally leaving the reader with a hopeful and affirmative image of the future.
