River~Link connector is a 104-acre preserve with a moderate .75-mile trail connecting to the town of Edgecomb’s Schmid Preserve. The larger network of conserved land called the River~Link system is accessible through this entry point. River~Link provides recreational trails, a wildlife corridor, and greenway that connects the Sheepscot and Damariscotta Rivers. The full River~Link system begins at Zak Preserve in Boothbay on its southern end and extends about 7 miles to its northern terminus in Newcastle at Dodge Point Preserve, managed by Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust. The River~Link system comprises backcountry trails of moderate difficulty, crossing a network of public and private lands. Many hikers prefer to park at the River~Link kiosk to access the system, and car shuttles can be set up between the River~Link and Dodge Point or Zak Preserve.
Directions to River~Link: From the roundabout in Boothbay Center, travel north on Route 27 about 6 miles; turn right on McKay Road and proceed .1 mile. Church Property is on the right.
