Join us for a captivating day of exploration on Damariscove Island! Embark on a scenic boat ride with the Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) to one of Maine’s earliest European settlement sites, dating back over four centuries. During the voyage, a BRLT representative will provide fascinating insights into the island’s rich history and unique natural features.
Once on the island, enjoy a variety of activities including five miles of picturesque hiking trails, tide-pooling, and perfect spots for picnicking. You can also visit a small rustic museum to delve deeper into the island’s storied past.
Please be aware that Damariscove Island is a nature preserve with rugged terrain and limited amenities. The only facility available is a composting toilet. Be sure to bring plenty of water, sun protection, and anything else you might need for a comfortable visit. We look forward to sharing this remarkable adventure with you!

What does our world look like when the climate crisis is no longer a problem we will deal with in the future, but a problem we are solving in the present? Halcyon in collaboration with singer/songwriter Alisa Amador present The Future is Here: a multimedia performance featuring the stories and actions of Maine people who are working on the ground to build creative, regenerative, and resilient communities in response to the climate crisis. Combining live music with film, community voices, and stop-motion animations, The Future is Here celebrates the ingenuity within our communities through a series of vignettes that tell stories of the concrete actions being taken to mitigate the climate crisis and build communities that are more equal, more sustainable, and more open..
This program is provided in partnership with the Opera House, Boothbay Region Clean Drinking Water Initiative, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, Boothbay Sea & Science Center, Sunrise Ecologic and the Boothbay Region Climate Action Committee.

With the shortest hours of daylight upon us, lanterns bring warmth and illumination to the darkness. Celebrate the winter solstice and the return to longer days with a self-guided lightly illuminated walk at Boothbay Region Land Trust’s Oak Point Farm. Arrive anytime between 4 and 7 pm and follow the lanterns spaced along a 1/2 mile universal access trail encircling a freshwater pond, through field and forest, with moonlit views of a tidal cove. Bundle up and come enjoy nature from a new perspective. BRLT staff will be on-hand attending a firepit warming station and a hot beverage bar. We look forward to seeing you! This event is free and open to everyone.

In partnership with the Maine Stone Workers Guild, Boothbay Region Land Trust will again host the ten-day Stone Symposium along the seaside fields of Oak Point Farm as part of a summer of art that will culminate in the land trust’s Art Auction fundraiser. Beginning Wednesday, July 14th and extending through Sunday, July 30th, visitors are invited to witness the unique art of stone sculpting every day between 10am-4pm on the land trust’s flagship preserve. This free public event is sure to inspire all.
Each day multiple stone workers will be demonstrating their craft by live-carving a stone sculpture from start to finish. Plan to visit multiple days to watch these works of art develop. Sculptors will include John Catizone, Jr., Joseph DiMauro, Sam Finkelstein, Isabel Kelley, and Andreas von Huene. Supporting the event will be stone workers Dick Alden, Bill Royall, and Dan Ucci. A crafting tent will be available each day to provide visitors and children the opportunity to create their own stone art.

In anticipation of our July 30th Art Auction, the public is invited to walk through the Oak Point Farm farmhouse and view all of the art that will be available during the ticketed auction. Boothbay Region Land Trust will be auctioning a diverse selection of exquisite works by artists, jewelers, and sculptors. Creators will be on hand for this reception to answer questions and share more about what sparks their creativity.

BRLT’s live and silent Art Auction Gala will return to Oak Point Farm in 2027 and will showcase a mix of incredible art donated by the region’s many noteworthy artists. Pieces will include paintings, mixed media, photography, jewelry, sculpture and much more. As in the past, the incredible sculptures created during the Stone Symposium will also be auctioned.
