Boothbay Region Land Trust’s educational programming provides people of all ages the chance to get outside and onto our preserves. From nature hikes to public lectures and school visits, we have a responsibility to connect the community to our natural surroundings. BRLT promotes education about wildlife, ecology, conservation, and local history for residents as well as visitors, helping to build an awareness and sense of stewardship that lasts a lifetime.
To further our impact, BRLT has cultivated a number of partnerships with local organizations, including Boothbay Region YMCA and Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens among others. These partnerships enable us to provide more diverse programming and reach a broader spectrum of the community.
BRLT has also established on-going educational programs at Boothbay Region Elementary School, Southport Central School, and Edgecomb Eddy School, and we are happy to extend educational offerings to teachers and educators, daycares or other civic groups in the region. Interested educators can review the menu of classes below or contact Environmental Educator Tracey Hall for more information or to discuss customized programs that fit the needs of your students. Additionally Boothbay Region Land Trust is pleased to offer a nature kit loaning program at no charge to educators on the Boothbay peninsula. Each hands-on educational kit contains activities and equipment to cover a nature topic and are adaptable for use with students in grades K-12. More details including descriptions of kits available for loan is provided below.
Boothbay Region Land Trust offers over 100 free educational events each year. Explore our events calendar to find free nature hikes, kayak paddles, and guest lecturers on a variety of environmental topics. We hope to see you at our next event!
