The Bird Word: Bird Nesting Blog
May 28, 2020 - August 15, 2020
Boothbay Region Land Trust volunteer and long-time birder, Stan Wakefield, regularly shares his observations and photos while monitoring BRLT’s bird boxes at Oak Point Farm, Lobster Cove Meadow, and Singing Meadows preserves. Learn about the variety of birds that are making homes in these boxes, see great photos that document the nesting process, and find out the best times to schedule a walk at our preserves and observe the busy feathered parents tending to their young (remember to bring your binoculars and observe from a distance). Observations and data from these boxes is also reported to NestWatch, a citizen-science monitoring program developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and used nationwide to track the status and trends in the reproductive biology of birds. We encourage readers to check back frequently at this blog to track how nests in BRLT’s bird boxes are changing over the season.
