SUMMARY:Trees in the Forest and the Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Trees have inspired naturalists and artists alike\, both in the forest and in the gallery. In that spirit\, the Boothbay Region Land Trust has partnered with the Mathias Fine Art to offer a tree identification walk and private viewing of tree art. Our day will start in the woods of Schoolhouse Pond Preserve. As we walk a one-mile loop past old stone walls and along a sphagnum bog\, we will encounter a variety of the tree species found in Midcoast Maine. A naturalist will offer some interesting insights into the ecology of the forest as well as share some tips for identifying our local trees. \nAfter our tree hike\, we will drive or take a short walk down the quiet road to Mathias Fine Art Gallery. Upon our arrival we will be greeted with coffee\, breakfast pastries\, and a private viewing of the show\, featuring art works created by artists from Maine and from away and inspired by the tremendous variety of trees\, their shape\, textures\, utility and most of all their beauty. \nThis event is free and open to everyone with registration required. To register or for more information\, contact BRLT Environmental Educator Tracey Hall at thall@bbrlt.org or 633-4818. \nFor more information on the exhibition visit www.mathiasfineart.com.
