SUMMARY:Paddle to Indiantown Island Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Grab your kayak or canoe and join BRLT Executive Director and registered Maine Kayak Guide Nick Ullo as he paddles out to Indiantown Island Preserve. This 3-mile paddle will begin in the Townsend Gut and travel up the Sheepscot River before landing at the Indiantown Island float. Paddlers will have the opportunity to stretch their legs with a 1-mile hike led by Environmental Educator Tracey Hall\, in which she will share the natural and cultural history of the preserve. This round-trip paddle launches at the float at BRLT’s Oak Point Farm and is best suited for intermediate and advanced paddlers. Embark on a scenic boat ride with the Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) to one of Maine’s earliest European settlement sites\, dating back over four centuries. During the voyage\, a BRLT representative will provide fascinating insights into the island’s rich history and unique natural features. \nOnce on the island\, enjoy a variety of activities including five miles of picturesque hiking trails\, tide-pooling\, and perfect spots for picnicking. You can also visit a small rustic museum to delve deeper into the island’s storied past. \nPlease be aware that Damariscove Island is a nature preserve with rugged terrain and limited amenities. The only facility available is a composting toilet. The island is nearly treeless with little to no shade. Be sure to bring plenty of water\, sun protection\, and anything else you might need for a comfortable visit of several hours. We look forward to sharing this remarkable adventure with you!

SUMMARY:CLIP Work Party
DESCRIPTION:Join our Committee to Limit Invasive Plants (CLIP). CLIP work parties will take place on Thursday mornings during the months of July and August at Penny Lake Preserve. CLIP volunteers will be helping eradicate invasive shrubs and vines (bush honeysuckle\, oriental bittersweet\, multi flora rose\, autumn olive\, and Japanese barberry) on this preserve.  Work will consist of pulling\, cutting\, and piling invasive brush that will be chipped or burned later. No prior knowledge or experience with invasive plants is needed. Training will be provided including species identification and removal techniques. \nSome tools will be available\, but volunteers are welcome and encouraged to bring their favorite pruning shears\, loppers\, or pulling/cutting devices. Long pants\, long sleeve shirts\, and gloves are recommended as well as bug spray and water. Your help is vital to supporting native ecosystems on our preserves! DESCRIPTION:Join our Committee to Limit Invasive Plants (CLIP). CLIP work parties will take place on Thursday mornings during the months of July and August at Penny Lake Preserve. CLIP volunteers will be helping eradicate invasive shrubs and vines (bush honeysuckle\, oriental bittersweet\, multi flora rose\, autumn olive\, and Japanese barberry) on this preserve.  Work will consist of pulling\, cutting\, and piling invasive brush that will be chipped or burned later. No prior knowledge or experience with invasive plants is needed. Training will be provided including species identification and removal techniques. \nSome tools will be available\, but volunteers are welcome and encouraged to bring their favorite pruning shears\, loppers\, or pulling/cutting devices. Long pants\, long sleeve shirts\, and gloves are recommended as well as bug spray and water. Your help is vital to supporting native ecosystems on our preserves! DESCRIPTION:Immerse your senses in the natural world and connect with your breath in this all-level hatha flow class on the farmhouse deck at BRLT’s Oak Point Farm. Begin your day with intention and reconnect with your body through mindful movement & focus on your breath while surrounded by the scenic beauty of a nature preserve. We will gently warm up our bodies in the morning air\, move through basic standing yoga postures\, do some strength-building\, and stretch our muscles. Class is open to all levels and suitable for beginners. Please bring your yoga mat or a towel. Donations are welcome and registration is not required.

SUMMARY:CLIP Work Party
DESCRIPTION:Join our Committee to Limit Invasive Plants (CLIP). CLIP work parties will take place on Thursday mornings during the months of July and August at Penny Lake Preserve. CLIP volunteers will be helping eradicate invasive shrubs and vines (bush honeysuckle\, oriental bittersweet\, multi flora rose\, autumn olive\, and Japanese barberry) on this preserve.  Work will consist of pulling\, cutting\, and piling invasive brush that will be chipped or burned later. No prior knowledge or experience with invasive plants is needed. Training will be provided including species identification and removal techniques. \nSome tools will be available\, but volunteers are welcome and encouraged to bring their favorite pruning shears\, loppers\, or pulling/cutting devices. Long pants\, long sleeve shirts\, and gloves are recommended as well as bug spray and water. Your help is vital to supporting native ecosystems on our preserves!
