Location: Autumn View Preserve at the end of Autumn View Lane (formerly Giles Road), Boothbay Harbor, ME

Investigate the wonders of our local forests while exploring BRLT’s newest preserve during an informative walk with Maine Forest Service District Forester Jared Gregory. This walk will focus on tree identification, while branching into broader topics such as forest ecology, historical land use, silviculture, and wildlife habitat. Jared’s flexible, conversational style invites questions and curiosity. This is a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of Midcoast Maine’s woodlands, learn practical tree ID tips, and explore one of our newest protected spaces.

This walk will be approximately 1 mile in length over uneven terrain. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring bottled water. Space is limited with registration required by filling out the form below:

Join us for Nature for Kids, a fun and engaging weekly outdoor program for school-age children and their caregivers! Each Friday, we explore a new nature theme—anything from discovering animal homes and identifying trees to pond studies and learning about camouflage.

Programs are designed to spark curiosity and encourage hands-on exploration, often including a short walk along Oak Point Farm’s easy, scenic trails. Whether we’re peeking into a beaver lodge, searching for birds, or getting our shoes a little muddy at the pond’s edge, every week offers a new adventure.

This is a free, drop-in program—no registration needed. Just meet us on the farmhouse deck and come ready to explore!

What to bring:

  • Sturdy shoes
  • Clothes that can get dirty or wet
  • A sense of curiosity!

Join us for Trail Tuesdays with the Boothbay Region Land Trust! Every Tuesday at 10 AM, we’ll gather at a different BRLT trailhead for a leisurely 1–2 mile hike, allowing plenty of time to soak in the scenery and marvel at nature along the way. Led by a naturalist, our walks include occasional stops to share fascinating insights into each preserve’s ecology, including its diverse plant and animal life.

No need to worry about advanced registration—simply lace up your sturdy hiking shoes, bring water, and meet us at the parking lot kiosk. Trail conditions vary by preserve and may include uneven terrain, roots, rocks, hills, or wet areas, so please come prepared and choose footwear appropriate for the trail. To help ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone and to protect the wildlife we encounter, please leave dogs at home.

In the event of inclement weather, cancellations will be posted on the BRLT website 24 hours in advance. Come for one hike or join us for the entire series—we look forward to seeing you on Trail Tuesdays!
