Read a family-friendly book while walking through the woods. Follow the illustrated signs along the trail as they tell a tale that connects you to your natural surroundings. The free 1-mile story trail starts from the Oak Point Farm parking lot kiosk and can be completed at your own pace and on your own time. The current story trail features the read-aloud book “Animal Homes,” written and photographed by Mary Holland.

Just like humans, animals use their homes for shelter and to raise their young. Animal homes might be easy to see, or they may be hidden (camouflaged) for protection. Naturalist photographer and environment educator, Mary Holland, describes a wide variety of homes that exist in the animal world.

Each Friday, we explore a new nature theme—anything from discovering animal homes and identifying trees to pond studies and learning about camouflage.

Programs are designed to spark curiosity and encourage hands-on exploration, often including a short walk along Oak Point Farm’s easy, scenic trails. Whether we’re peeking into a beaver lodge, searching for birds, or getting our shoes a little muddy at the pond’s edge, every week offers a new adventure.

This is a free, drop-in program—no registration needed. Just meet us on the farmhouse deck and come ready to explore!
