SUMMARY:Story Trail: A Logs Life
DESCRIPTION:Looking for something to do with your kids during this time of remote learning and social distancing? Come outside and read a family friendly book while on a short and easy hike!  This free 1 mile story trail starts from the Oak Point Farm parking lot kiosk and can be completed anytime during daylight hours. The current story trail features the book “A Logs Life” by Wendy Pfeffer. The book is an informative and creative tale about a fallen oak tree in the forest\, teaching young readers about the various purposes it serves in the ecosystem during every step of its life cycle. After your story walk\, see if you can find your own fallen log to investigate. Share your results with BRLT on Facebook or via email at brlt@bbrlt.org; we’d love to see them!

SUMMARY:The Bird Word: Bird Nesting Blog
DESCRIPTION:Boothbay Region Land Trust volunteer and long-time birder\, Stan Wakefield\, regularly shares his observations and photos while monitoring BRLT’s bird boxes at Oak Point Farm\, Lobster Cove Meadow\, and Singing Meadows preserves. Learn about the variety of birds that are making homes in these boxes\, see great photos that document the nesting process\, and find out the best times to schedule a walk at our preserves and observe the busy feathered parents tending to their young (remember to bring your binoculars and observe from a distance). Observations and data from these boxes is also reported to NestWatch\, a citizen-science monitoring program developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and used nationwide to track the status and trends in the reproductive biology of birds. We encourage readers to check back frequently at this blog to track how nests in BRLT’s bird boxes are changing over the season. \nAccess blog here!
