SUMMARY:Story Trail: Plants Can't Sit Still
DESCRIPTION:Read a family-friendly book while walking through the woods. Follow the illustrated signs along the trail as they tell a tale that connects you to your natural surroundings. The free 1-mile story trail starts from the Oak Point Farm parking lot kiosk and can be completed at your own pace and on your own time. The current story trail features the read-aloud book Plants Can’t Sit Still\, written by Rebecca E Hirsch and illustrated by Mia Posada. \nDo plants really move? Absolutely! \nYou might be surprised by all ways plants can move. Plants might not pick up their roots and walk away\, but they definitely don’t sit still! Discover the many ways plants (and their seeds) move. Whether it’s a sunflower\, a Venus flytrap\, or an exotic plant like an exploding cucumber\, this fascinating picture book shows just how excitingly active plants really are. \n

SUMMARY:Story Trail: Ferdinand Fox's First Summer
DESCRIPTION:Read a family-friendly book while walking through the woods. Follow the illustrated signs along the trail as they tell a tale that connects you to your natural surroundings. The free 1-mile story trail starts from the Oak Point Farm parking lot kiosk and can be completed at your own pace and on your own time. The current story trail features the read-aloud book “Ferdinand Fox’s First Summer\,” written and photographed by Mary Holland. \nNaturalist photographer and environment educator\, Mary Holland\, shares the journey of a red fox as he explores the world around him during the first few months of his life. Watch as he learns to hunt through play and by using his senses. See the changes as he grows from a young kit to a young fox.

SUMMARY:Damariscove Island Boat Trip 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a captivating day of exploration on Damariscove Island! Embark on a scenic boat ride with the Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) to one of Maine’s earliest European settlement sites\, dating back over four centuries. During the voyage\, a BRLT representative will provide fascinating insights into the island’s rich history and unique natural features. \nOnce on the island\, enjoy a variety of activities including five miles of picturesque hiking trails\, tide-pooling\, and perfect spots for picnicking. You can also visit a small rustic museum to delve deeper into the island’s storied past. \nPlease be aware that Damariscove Island is a nature preserve with rugged terrain and limited amenities. The only facility available is a composting toilet. The island is nearly treeless with little to no shade. Be sure to bring plenty of water\, sun protection\, and anything else you might need for a comfortable visit of several hours. We look forward to sharing this remarkable adventure with you! \nFill out my LGL Form!
