DESCRIPTION:Join us for Trail Tuesdays with the Boothbay Region Land Trust!  Every Tuesday at 10 AM\, we’ll gather at a different BRLT trailhead for a leisurely 1-2 mile hike\, allowing time to soak in the scenery and marvel at nature along the way. Led by a naturalist\, our walks will include occasional stops to share fascinating insights into the preserve’s ecology\, including the diverse plant and animal life. \nNo need to worry about advanced registration—simply lace up your sturdy shoes\, pack some water\, and meet us at the parking lot kiosk. In the event of inclement weather\, cancellations will be posted on the BRLT website 24 hours in advance. Come for one hike or join us for the entire series. We look forward to seeing you on Trail Tuesdays! \nThis week’s hike is at Autumn View Preserve. This is our newest preserve and is not currently listed on maps. To find the preserve\, take Route 96 from the light at Hannaford towards East Boothbay for .9 of a mile. Turn right onto Autumn View Road (formerly Giles Road). Continue down the dirt road until reaching the preserve parking lot.

Embark on a scenic boat ride with the Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) to one of Maine’s earliest European settlement sites\, dating back over four centuries. During the voyage\, a BRLT representative will provide fascinating insights into the island’s rich history and unique natural features. \nOnce on the island\, enjoy a variety of activities including five miles of picturesque hiking trails\, tide-pooling\, and perfect spots for picnicking. You can also visit a small rustic museum to delve deeper into the island’s storied past. \nPlease be aware that Damariscove Island is a nature preserve with rugged terrain and limited amenities. The only facility available is a composting toilet. The island is nearly treeless with little to no shade. Be sure to bring plenty of water\, sun protection\, and anything else you might need for a comfortable visit of several hours. We look forward to sharing this remarkable adventure with you!

SUMMARY:Paddle to Indiantown Island Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Grab your kayak or canoe and join BRLT Executive Director and registered Maine Kayak Guide Nick Ullo as he paddles out to Indiantown Island Preserve. This 3-mile paddle will begin in the Townsend Gut and travel up the Sheepscot River before landing at the Indiantown Island float. Paddlers will have the opportunity to stretch their legs with a 1-mile hike led by Environmental Educator Tracey Hall\, in which she will share the natural and cultural history of the preserve. This round-trip paddle launches at the float at BRLT’s Oak Point Farm and is best suited for intermediate and advanced paddlers.
