SUMMARY:Story Trail Walk: Flowers Are Calling
DESCRIPTION:Read a family-friendly book while walking through the woods. Follow the illustrated signs along the trail as they tell a tale that connects you to your natural surroundings. The free 1-mile story trail starts from the Oak Point Farm parking lot kiosk and can be completed at your own pace and on your own time. The current story trail features the read-aloud book “Flowers Are Calling”\, written by Rita Gray and illustrated by Kenard Pak. \nFlowers are calling to all the animals of the forest\, “Drink me!”—but it’s the pollinators who feast on their nectar. In rhyming poetic form and with luminous artwork\, this book shows us the marvel of natural cooperation between plants\, animals\, and insects as they each play their part in the forest’s cycle of life. \nThe story trail at Oak Point Farm is open year-round during daylight hours\, with a new book posted every four to five weeks. Current book titles and dates will be updated on our website.

DESCRIPTION:***Note: Due to unforseen circumstances the Gregory Preserve hike has moved locations to Oak Point Farm***Discover the history and ecology of Oak Point Farm during a leisurely one mile hike with Boothbay Region Land Trust Environmental Educator Tracey Hall. This loop trail ventures through a varied meadow and woodland with lengthy frontage on the Townsend Gut. Hikers can enjoy walking around a small pond bordered by wildflowers. Bullfrogs and dragonflies revel in this natural habitat\, as well as deer\, small mammals\, and a variety of birds.
